Dear Parents
We had a great start to term 3 last week - both the K1 and K2 children settled quickly back into routines. As one K1 child said, “I’m so happy to be back at school!” Fingers crossed, we can continue until the end of the term without further disruptions. I would like to express my sincere thanks again to the Hillside team for taking time from their term break to undertake the last round of testing, which enabled us to resume fully and start back with a bit of normalcy last week. As school staff, we have priority for the covid vaccinations, and a number of us have had one if not two vaccines. Once fully vaccinated, we will not need to continue testing.
In the spirit of sharing, for any parents planning to get the vaccination, do note that the second injection can be more tiring and feels like the flu the following day.
Kind regards
Audrey and the Hillside Team
If you drive your child to school, you will agree, the traffic on Stubbs Road can be problematic. This is especially true during afternoon drop-off time as our afternoon arrival time clashes with Bradbury's departure time (due to their half-day schedule restriction).
Now that the children are more settled and used to the arrival routines. We will try to get ready a few minutes before the session to help anyone who needs to do a "drop and go" by the walker entrance.
Bradbury and Hillside have contacted the police/ traffic department to ask for their assistance with directing traffic and keeping the road safe for everyone.
Please be reminded of some road safety rules that help protect children on the move, and we thank you in advance for your cooperation with this request.
Apologies for the delay, we are sorting out some tech issues on the PTC sign-ups and hope to send that out shortly.
As a reminder, we have booked in for K2s: 3-6 May and K1s: 10-13 May.
Please note classes will continue as per normal throughout the PTC weeks. The appointments are about 10-15 minutes long for each child. Please appreciate that these are the dates when we have arranged cover for teachers and we would like to keep to them as much as possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on 2540-0066.
The latest blog post highlights how children in different classes are developing their language skills. Our PYP Curriculum Coordinator, Brenda, will regularly share curriculum information and/ or posts of your children accessing various areas of the curriculum via this learning blog. In this recent post, Brenda shares some of our literacy goals and talks about how children develop reading skills under an IB PYP curriculum framework.
Now that the children are back in school, we should be able to capture better snapshots and photos to illustrate their learning. Please do check in throughout the year to see updates!
