Dear Parents

You should have received communication from ESF Centre last night regarding further restricting access to all school sites. Only minimal key staff will be on-site, and all learning will be online. 

This further restriction directly responds to the increasing number of COVID cases. Hence, I also want to share the Hillside plans as it currently stands. While we are uncertain of the situation after Lunar New Year, we anticipate continuing distance learning after the break.

We are disappointed with the situation. However, we are very proud of the children and families for smoothly transitioning to online learning. I've heard many stories of how even the young K1 children adjusted to this round of distance learning, and we are so pleased to see everyone's faces, mouths, and expressions when we speak. But, with everyone Zooming at home, please excuse any background noise, such as young children shouting or dogs barking, during class Zooms!

K1 How We Express Ourselves Unit Report is Live Now! (Parent Comment Box) 

Your K1 child’s latest report is now available for viewing. Please refer to the graphics below to access your child’s report. We would like parents to refer to the Hillside VLE regularly and also contribute to your child’s learning journey records by adding your comments. For this new report, we are inviting those parents interested to contribute by adding your comment in the “parent response to learning” box. 

We would like to invite all children to dress down in festive or casual clothing to join Assembly with us on Friday 28 January. Last Friday, Stripey talked about wearing red and gold as his lucky colours for the Lunar New Year, and all children are invited to join in their lucky colours. 

The upcoming K1 & K2 Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTCs) are available for sign-up. Please make an appointment via the app at your earliest convenience to secure a time to meet with your child's teacher. You will receive an automated email with a Zoom link in the afternoon prior to your PTC. Please be reminded to Zoom from a quiet space to avoid poor audio connections.

K1 PTCs - each teacher will be available for two days.

• Dolphin: Monday 7 Feb, Thursday 10 Feb
• Frog: Monday 7 Feb, Wednesday 9 Feb
• Monkey: Tuesday 8 Feb, Wednesday 9 Feb
• Panda: Tuesday 8 Feb, Thursday 10 Feb

K2 PTCs - each teacher will be available for two days.

• Dragon: Tuesday 15 Feb, Thursday 17 Feb
• Gecko: Monday 14 Feb Wednesday 16 Feb
• Tiger: Tuesday 15 Feb, Thursday 17 Feb
• Turtle: Monday 14 Feb, Wednesday 16 Feb

Please note classes will continue as per usual throughout the PTC weeks. The appointments are about 10-15 minutes long for each child.

Unfortunately, we have had to take the very disappointing decision to postpone the Tabby McTat theatre trip. The production house is considering staging this or a similar production at a future date. At this time they are not able to announce any new dates as yet, but we will keep everyone posted on the situation. If they are not able to postpone the performance for us, then a refund will be issued in due course.
