Dear Parents
I know the government's announcements to bring forward this year's summer holiday is very emotive news for our community. I'm sure (like me) you will have many questions about the implications for ESF schools.
Belinda Greer and other ESF directors are meeting with EDB representatives today. We will keep our community posted as soon as we have further clarification on the matter.
Until then, I want to update you on a few things.
Thank you for all your suggestions and feedback during the past two weeks of PTCs. Both the K1 and K2 teams have reflected on our current provision. We will continue to balance online and offline learning based on your feedback and, more importantly, the children's needs. Keeping the classroom connections alive will be our main priority.
You might have noticed some adjustments to this week's schedule in some classes, or the class teachers have slightly changed the children's groupings. There could be other tweaks to the timetable in the upcoming weeks. Again, this is based on your feedback on social connection opportunities, and these sessions might not be as formal or instructional. They are intended to encourage language, social exchange, turn-taking...etc.
We truly appreciate that families are taking on much more responsibility for the children's learning than ever before. Thank you again. On this related note, I want to highlight the section in the Hillside Resource Bank on Support Children in Times of COVID. We hope you find these resources helpful.
Take care and stay safe.
Audrey
Based on some of the PTC feedback, we've created this Hillside Resource Bank (website) with helpful materials for children and adults for easy access during the class suspension period. For example, resources to support the K1 & K2 Units of Inquiry. There are also educational links and resources on literacy, virtual field trips, STEM activities, and free online stories. Plus, some health and well-being information to support your child understand and coping with COVID times. We will continue to add/ update the site content as we manoeuvre through this round of distance learning.
