It has been wonderful to be a part of the K2 interest week and watch all our talented children perform on Hillside's Got Talent! Thank you to all the participants!
I'm sure all the teachers would agree seeing the children's smiling faces keeps us going every day. I have been so amazed to see how the children's confidence has grown, and they have been so keen to chat and express themselves.
We are very much looking forward to face-to-face class resumption when the children can talk all they want in person. We are working on our return to school plan and looking at safe ways to have all children in school. ESF is reviewing any resources and new strategies we might need to have in place to maximise safety, well-being and learning. We are also waiting for further guidelines from the Education Bureau, so please bear with us as we finalise our plans.
For now, please note that all health & safety protocols from before Christmas will continue to be in place, and we will share any further updates and reminders before the class resumption date.
Thank you again for your ongoing support and patience during these unprecedented times.
With World Book Day coming up on 23 April, we would like to invite families to join our Community Reading Challenge! Please share a picture of you reading in weird and wonderful ways. Here’s a trailer of all our staff completing the challenge, and now it’s your turn! Share your photos HERE.
We have planned for our popular book character dress-up day on Friday 22 April this year. We would like to invite all the children to come to school on this day dressed as a character from a book/story that they enjoy. Costumes do not need to be elaborate or detailed – just something fun and safe for the children to wear. We recommend not to have over-the-head pieces or masks to maintain health and safety and surgical mask hygiene.
We will be sure of lots of photos being taken and shared with you :)
We had originally planned for parent check-ins after the term break if we were still on distance learning. However, with classes resuming, we would all agree the priority is to maximise face-to-face time with the children. Therefore, we will not schedule any formal PTCs after the Easter break. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about your child's progress and learning. There is no need to wait for a formal PTC . Please reach out to your child's class teacher directly so that we can work together to meet your child's needs.
A number of parents have spoken with teachers recently saying they are experiencing increasing tantrums, power struggles and stress from their children at home. ESF Tung Chung Kindergarten has arranged a parent webinar with Marie Marchand , who specialises in Positive Parenting [Web Link], and is based in Hong Kong.
Marie has offered support to ESF Kindergarten parents before and will be offering a Webinar to support practical positive communication and behaviours with children given the upcoming transition and extended time at home. This is open to all parents who are interested.
When: Thursday 7 April, 7:30-8:30PM
Webinar: POWER STRUGGLES AND POSITIVE LANGUAGE
Are your children saying ’NO’ often? This webinar will explore the reasons why this is happening and will give practical tools to handle power struggles and use positive language. This webinar is full of easy ideas for parents to use the next day!
