Dear Parents
I can't believe the summer is just the corner! First, I must thank everyone for working together to keep our community safe. We hope to ensure that everyone remains healthy and safe at school and that learning continues in person without further disruption this term. However, as we are near the end of term, and with many families planning to travel within our community, we will provide a daily summary update of any NEW positive COVID cases within the Hillside community.
Please appreciate the need for confidentiality and respect for those who fall ill; we will not be disclosing personal details of individual cases. We wish them all a speedy recovery.
This week has been an exciting week celebrating the achievements of our K2 children. Despite the unstable weather and the unsettling pandemic, each class hosted their own 'Celebration of Learning' with an intimate class ceremony. The children enjoyed being in the spotlight. I am sure you would agree that the ceremony was a meaningful way to acknowledge and celebrate the children's time at Hillside. Thank you to all the parents for joining this special event. Not only does it mean a lot to the children, but also to our teachers. It has been such a pleasure and privilege.
I know many classes have been busy preparing for their end-of-year celebrations and teachers are busy putting photo albums together to share with our parents. Don’t forget that both the K1 and K2 children are invited to come in any outfit that expresses themselves on 23 June for the children's end-of-year party.
Warm regards
Audrey
Your child's end-of-year report will be available on 22 June. We will send another reminder once it's live online. Again, due to the unusual aspect of this academic year, it is important to note that learning is not locked in one point, one year or a particular age but is an ongoing continuum based on the child's readiness rather than a date. All teachers between different year levels are very sensitive to the situation and will be meeting the children where they are, both academically and social-emotionally, supporting the children in their next phase of learning. We also invite those parents interested in contributing to the report by adding your comment in the "parent response to learning" box.
You can access your child's portfolio pieces, where you should find highlights of your child's work and showcase your child's role in their learning. This could also reflect your child's conceptual understandings, knowledge or skills, and ideas for continuing the learning or next steps. You may also access the e-portfolio from a desktop to download all your children's work. Click HERE for instructions.
Thank you again for your ongoing support and for working in partnership with us.
We are taking steps to be more sustainable as a school. As such, we would like to provide a forum for interested parents to donate or purchase preloved uniform items at a nominal price. All proceeds will contribute to enhancing our new playground.
This is not limited to only Hillside uniforms; any preloved ESF primary school uniforms are also welcome as we feed into all five ESF HK island primary schools. Any unsold uniforms will be used as a backup change of clothes at school or role-play in the "primary school" dress-up corner.
If you are interested in donating, please send the preloved kindergarten or primary school uniform items to Hillside any time from now onwards.
If you are interested in purchasing, please visit Hillside on 21 & 22 June. More details are on the attached flyer.
