Dear Hillside Families
Thank you to those parents who contributed to the Transition Wonder Wall. We've responded directly to the posts, so please take a look if you're interested.
Our teaching teams have been busy planning for end-of-year transitions and events, as well as start-of-year plans. One of the biggest tasks is the new K2 class grouping. It has been a complicated task putting all the puzzle pieces together, ensuring that we cater to the children's needs and keeping a balanced class group.
After many drafts and numerous discussions with all the teachers, we will soon share the final version with parents. We are still finalising afternoon places (because we have had some recent afternoon withdrawals), so some class lists still need to be completed. Stay-tune!
Warm regards
Audrey
To support our current K1s moving up to K2s, we are working on a webpage to help the K1 children prepare for their new K2 experience. We are also planning an opportunity for the K1 to meet their new K2 teachers and friends. As well as visit their new classroom before the summer. More details are coming soon.
A friendly reminder for our K2 families with children transitioning to an ESF Primary school to attend the transition day this Friday, 2 June. Children are welcome to return back to Hillside after their transition day. However, the morning will be a big and exciting event for the children and it can be overwhelming and tiring for them. Some children may not return to Hillside and rest and recharge after their school visits. This will give them the opportunity to process their experiences, talk and reflect on their feelings, and we encourage you to discuss their new routines while it's fresh in their mind. Have a great time K2s and we look forward to hearing all about big school from your child!
For the upcoming academic year, we will be hosting parent-teacher meetings, or "You Tell Us" sessions, as well as parent webinars and social Zooms from 16-18 August. These sessions are a great opportunity for you to meet with your child's teacher and the Senior Leadership Team and learn more about our plans for the year ahead.
For our K2 children (current K1s), the school year will begin as normal on Monday, 21 August. However, for our K1 children, we will be implementing a staggered timetable. In addition, the class will be split in half for small-group orientation.
We will provide you with more specific details regarding each class timetable as soon as we finalise plans and staff recruitment. Again, we thank you for your patience.
We understand that the start of the school year can be a busy and exciting time for families, and we want to ensure that everyone is well-prepared and informed. Please keep an eye out for further updates and information regarding these events. Thank you for your continued support and partnership with us.
We are really excited to invite you to our upcoming Arts Open Day on 7 & 8 June. Please access the sign-up sheet through the class-based app message from last week. Sign-ups close this Friday, 2 June.
On both days, K1 children are welcome to express their unique styles and personality by showing who they are through their outfit choices! They can choose to wear colours they like, or even dress in costumes to sing and dance in on our performance stage at school. So feel free to get creative!
We look forward to you joining in the fun and learning alongside your child as they engage in different ways of expressing themselves, including through art, music, dance, and storytelling.
Starting from 1 August 2023, we will be dropping the school zoning for student recruitment as part of our commitment to offering parents a wider range of choices when selecting an ESF School for their child.
