Dear Hillside Families
I hope you are keeping warm and dry as we enter the cooler months. We want to thank you for your cooperation and support in staying vigilant and keeping our community safe.
On occasions, some children have been attending school while feeling under the weather, exhibiting symptoms such as a bad chesty cough, a runny nose, or even a low-grade fever. We appreciate those who have taken steps to protect others by wearing face masks. However, our children are too young to self-manage their masks appropriately or effectively, which can increase the risk of spreading illness to others, including teachers and classmates. Please continue to keep unwell children at home to rest if they are unwell.
Warm regards
Audrey
We are going to co-create a learning experience together with the K1 children for their Sharing the Planet unit of inquiry! On Thurs 23 November, children are invited to come dressed in "Earth colours." (i.e. blue for water, white for clouds, etc.) Creativity is most welcome, and outfits can be a combination of colours representing various Earth elements. Please note that we kindly request that children do not wear dress-up costumes such as Disney/Marvel characters. We want to focus specifically on creating an opportunity to spark conversation and encourage children to extend their current interests and deepen their understanding of our planet. We appreciate your support in helping your child prepare for this special dress-up day.
We're thrilled to invite you to a Family Winter Picnic at Repulse Bay Beach on Friday, 8 December. Please save this date! This has been a popular community event in previous years, and we are very excited to have this return. Our plan is to run two separate sessions for the morning and afternoon classes. An official invitation with all the necessary information will be sent to you soon.
We are planning our annual Hillside Winter Family Picnic, which will take place on Friday, 8 December, AM/ PM sessions. This community event is intended for K1 and K2 families to come together and spread some holiday cheer.
One of the stations we are planning for is Santa! We would like to put a call-out to parents who might be interested in taking on this role for the morning or afternoon. We would suggest that you consider the opposite session from your child's normal class :)
If you are interested or have questions, please contact us on kinder@hillside.edu.hk
More details about this event will follow soon!
To ensure the safety and privacy of all children, we kindly request your attention to the following reminders regarding arrivals and dismissals:
As we enter the second half of the term and the children have settled into their routines, we would like to inform you that filming or photographing at the front door during drop-off time is strictly prohibited. This policy is in place to safeguard our children, as some may inadvertently appear in the background of such media without their consent. Therefore, we kindly ask that adults dropping off their children refrain from using their phones to film or take photos while on school premises.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to these guidelines, as they are essential for maintaining a secure and respectful environment for all children. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Early Intervention & Student Support
Thank you to parents who joined us for today's webinar to learn more about Early Intervention and Student Support at Hillside. We want all children to feel safe, supported, and valued in their learning environment. At times, children may face barriers to learning due to a variety of reasons, from anxiety, social confidence, speech delays, sensory processing or other challenges.
For those unable to attend, here are the slides and recording.
