Dear Hillside Families
I looked at my notes from a year ago, and it's hard to believe that that was just twelve months ago when we still had the face mask mandate. 1 March 2023 was the first "mask-free" day! It does make me think about how the landscape has changed and how the needs of the children, families and staff have shifted.
The changes that we have seen in the past year have not been limited to the pandemic-related but also to the rapid development of generative AI, such as Chat GPT and, more recently, Sora. The advancements in such technologies have led to awe and wonder for many individuals who marvel at the capabilities of these systems. At the same time, there is a sense of uncertainty and a need to understand the limitations and potential risks associated with this technology.
I often like to take the time to pause, reflect and bring everything into perspective. What does it mean for our youngest learners? What can we do to help prepare our youngest learners to navigate and contribute positively to this ever-changing world?
With this said, we are constantly reviewing and refining our systems, and your feedback is an invaluable part of this process. We would be grateful if you would share your thoughts with us in our annual
The survey will be emailed to you and is relatively short, taking around ten minutes to complete. Your responses will be anonymous - unless you choose to identify yourself. Once the survey period closes, we will collate and analyse the data and, of course, provide feedback on our findings.
As always, thank you for your continuous support.
Warm regards
Audrey
As the K2 children continue their inquiries within the unit Sharing the Planet, we have planned a trip to Tai Tam Country Park to encourage them to build on their knowledge of the local environment, as well as to think more deeply around how their choices may have a ripple effect on nature. Please look out for a separate app message that will contain further details and an e-Notice for this trip.
We have scheduled Peter Inglis, a professional photographer, to come on 12-13 March to take photos of children in school. We have worked with Peter in the past, and he has been fantastic with the children. Peter has a selection of puppets and tricks and lots of patience to make the children smile. The children are now developing their confidence and personalities; I’m sure we will hear lots of giggles throughout the day.
Peter will be taking photographs of individual children, siblings and class groups. Please note that some children might feel uncomfortable in this situation, so we will not force them to be photographed against their wishes.
Four classes are scheduled for each day:
Tuesday 12 March - All K1s
Wednesday 13 March - All K2s
When available, you will be able to view the proofs online. More details will follow. There is no obligation to purchase.
