27 September: Parent Webinar: Chinese at Hillside (Details to follow)
2 October: Deadline for Online Student Grant Application
7-11 October: Mid-Term Break
Dear Hillside Families
To our families who celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, we wish you a joyous gathering with loved ones.
During their Chinese sessions, our children were introduced to the traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival. They learned about cultural stories, made mooncakes, and created colourful lanterns. Please join our Chinese teachers in the upcoming webinar to learn more about our Chinese Programme.
We also extend our sincere thanks to the K2 parent volunteers who joined in the recent festivities.
As our children continue to settle into their school routines, we look forward to introducing more community events. Keep an eye out for sign-ups!
It's been nearly a month since the start of the school year, and we've been delighted to hear positive feedback from visitors from the ESF Centre about our children's confidence, independence, and love of learning. This reminded me of a powerful TED Talk called "How Every Child Can Thrive by Five". This 7-minute video highlights how play fuels lifelong learning, positive behaviour, and well-being in children. It also aligns with the famous theory on human motivation, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Just like adults, children need strong foundations to thrive, and play is a key part of building those.
Warm regards
Audrey

At Hillside, we are strongly committed to partnership with our parents. Building a strong home-school partnership is always one of our school priorities.
We want to express our gratitude to all the parents who have been actively supporting our communication efforts by setting up WhatsApp groups and sharing helpful information. Your continued involvement will greatly foster a strong and connected community within your class.
We would like to call for two official Class Parent volunteers per class to assist in building a family-school partnership.
The Class Parent's Role:
They enhance communication between the class teacher and parents.
They actively promote a sense of community among parents and provide an important link for new parents to the school community.
The Hillside Senior Leadership Team will work together with the Class Parents to facilitate this, such as sending reminder messages for special dress-up days or upcoming school events.
If you are interested in becoming a Class Parent, please read this Hillside Class Parent Guideline and complete this Google form to express your interest.
