Dear Hillside Families
We hope you and the children had an enjoyable term break. As we welcome the cooler weather, we are approaching flu season. We kindly ask for your cooperation and support in staying vigilant and keeping our community safe. Please continue to keep unwell children at home to rest before they manifest into a full-on URTI, as the CHP continues to be prudent about influenza-like illnesses.
As Principal, I'm pleased to share our Annual Report for the past academic year. It highlights the incredible achievements of our students and staff at Hillside International Kindergarten. Some key highlights include a positive IB Evaluation visit, the appointment of a second full-time Chinese teacher, strengthened collaboration with Bradbury School, and the successful launch of our LUÜNA initiative to create inclusive, period-positive workspaces.
We're proud of our progress and believe this report will provide transparency and valuable insights into our school community. [Link to report]
Warm regards
Audrey
Both K1 and K2 PTC sign-ups are available. Please check the separate app message with further information and make an appointment at your earliest convenience. You will have a choice of 2 dates, and appointments are 10-15 minutes long for each child. Please appreciate that these dates are when we have arranged cover for teachers, and we would like to keep to them as much as possible. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us on 2540-0066.
These meetings will take place via Zoom, so please be reminded to Zoom from a quiet space to avoid poor audio connections. Please also note classes will continue as usual for the children throughout the PTC week.
Your child's Who We Are Unit of Inquiry report is now available for viewing. Please refer to the graphics below to access your child's report. When viewing the report, we invite those parents interested in contributing by adding your comment in the "parent response to learning" box.
Please mark your calendars for 12 November, as our K2 children will be visiting the Hong Kong Science Museum on an educational excursion. AM classes are scheduled to join us from 10am to 12noon and the PM classes from 2pm to 4pm. The trip is designed to complement their next unit of inquiry, "How The World Works." You will find in a separate app message further details that include a consent form to attend the excursion.
Dress-up days are a great opportunity to express ourselves, so we would like to invite all the children to join us for a Dress-up Day (not necessarily Halloween-related) on 31 October. Children can come to school on this day dressed as a character that they enjoy. Costumes do not need to be elaborate or detailed – just something fun (and safe) for the children to wear. The children will enjoy some fun and games in their own class. However, due to health and safety (with allergies) and sustainability reasons, please do not send any goodie bags, sweets or treats.
Early intervention is the best intervention. We would like to share an exciting opportunity that Watchdog has organised for our school community. Watchdog would like to host an online briefing to help parents understand their Tier 1 service provision. This is a great chance for families who might benefit from this service, but have not yet joined, to learn more about it.
Please find attached the promotion flyer for the event.
Please feel free to contact your class teacher and Laura Bousfield (Hillside Student Support coordinator) for more information.
