Dear Hillside Families
Thank you to everyone involved in the parent-teacher conferences these two weeks. We have heard some positive feedback from parents, and I hope you found them useful and that you come away with helpful information about how your child is progressing and what the next steps and priorities will be for them as they continue on this term.
Please be reminded of a few upcoming events below.
Warm regards
Audrey
We are excited to invite all children to participate in a Dress-Up Day on Thursday, 31 October! This is a wonderful opportunity for them to express themselves by dressing up as a character they enjoy. Costumes do not need to be elaborate—just fun and SAFE for everyone. We will have fun activities within each class to make the day special.
This day also coincides with Diwali, so children who celebrate are welcome to wear Diwali clothing if they wish.
For health, safety (with allergies), and sustainability reasons, please refrain from sending any goodie bags, sweets, or treats. Thank you for your support. We look forward to a fun and festive day!
We want to address the recent concerns raised regarding our bus service provided by Kwoon Chung Motors (KCM). We have been actively engaging with KCM to address the following issues:
A formal warning has been issued to KCM, emphasising the need for immediate improvements in these areas. We are currently collaborating with ESF head office and KCM to implement a performance improvement plan to address these issues effectively. The safety and wellbeing of our students remain our top priority, and we are committed to ensuring a reliable and secure transportation service.
Thank you to all those parents who have been in touch and supporting us as we continue to address these matters. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work towards resolving these concerns.
Thank you to parents and caregivers who joined us earlier today to learn more about how you can get involved in your child's learning. Here are the slides and webinar recording.
Both K1 & K2 storytellers for Term 1 are now available for sign-up. Please look out for a separate app message with further information specific to your class and to sign up. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our admin team for support.
Similar to previous practice, the ESF Primary Admissions team will inform all ESF K2 parents of their allocation for a primary school in advance of receiving their offer. The Y1 allocation email to all K2 parents was sent on Friday, 25 October. The official offer packages will be sent on 22 November, and the deposit deadline is 6 December to confirm the primary school place for August 2025.
If you did not receive your allocation email or have any further questions, please contact the ESF Primary Admissions Team at primary.admissions@esfcentre.edu.hk
Please remember our K2 Science Museum Trip, on 12 November 2024. If you haven't yet, please complete the trip eNotice to give permission for your child to attend.
AM classes are scheduled to join us from 10am to 12noon and the PM classes from 2pm to 4pm. The trip is designed to complement their next unit of inquiry, "How The World Works." You should find in a separate app message further details that include this consent form to attend the excursion.

We’re excited to introduce a new after-school programme, Harmony Heroes offered by ESF Explore. It’s offered on Thursdays, 4:15-5:15 pm, from now until 12 Dec, 2024. It’s aimed at 3-5-year-olds, so our children are welcome to enrol. Please click on this link to learn more or enrol.
Harmony Heroes focuses on the socio-emotional development of young learners, which can be tricky to navigate as feelings and emotions get bigger and bigger. Developing these skills is crucial for children as it helps with their relationship-building, emotional regulation, empathy and understanding, conflict resolution, self-confidence, academic success and wellbeing.
How does it work?
Harmony Heroes is an exciting and interactive programme that seamlessly integrates Lego, games, puzzles, storytelling, and role play to hone the emotional and social development of children. For example:
Socio-emotional skills are vital for children's overall development, helping them navigate life’s challenges both now and in the future.
