28-29 June: K2 End of Year Celebrations (Details below)
29 June: Last Day of School
Dear Parents
We are very pleased about the return to full days for our primary schools, and hopefully, this will help ease the bad traffic situation on Stubbs Road, especially true during afternoon drop-off time. However, we kindly ask all drivers and parent drivers to continue to observe good road courtesy, avoid parking in front of the Hillside and Bradbury gates, and park briefly at the sidewalks.
With a few more weeks before the summer, we want these to remain in-person, safe and enjoyable. Please do keep unwell children at home to rest before it manifests into a full-on URTI. Let’s keep up our healthy habits and amp up our vitamins!
We do have lots of fun and exciting things for the remainder of the term. One of the highlights of Term 3 is always our K2 end of year event. With ESF moving towards a "Through-Train Education System", we would like to see this move from K2 to Y1 as part of the transition process. As such, our end of year event will be a Celebration of Learning to commemorate the children’s time at Hillside. Please take a look at the section below for more info about this event. Fingers-crossed that we continue through to the summer :)
Kind regards
Audrey and the Hillside Team
As we wrap up the school year, the K2 end of year celebration will be an exclusive Hillside children-only event. We had a very small celebration last year, without our usual parents' attendance. As we make do with another year under the same social restrictions, we are ready to innovate and start new traditions. The K2 celebration will be planned by the children, for the children, to celebrate their learning. It will take place over several days with the brainstorming and preparation the week prior and the actual celebrations on the 28 & 29 June. It will also be a wonderful finale to their current Unit of Inquiry on ‘How We Express Ourselves'. Parents, we know you would like to join, but don’t fret! We will be preparing a video montage and a class album as a keepsake for our families. We promise it’ll be double the fun and value for our Hillside children as we send them off with joyful memories of their Hillside friends and teachers. Watch this space for more details!
We are in the process of reviewing our various methods of keeping parents informed of their child's progress and development throughout the year. To support us in continuing to reflect and improve on our practices, we value your thoughts and feedback. This will help us find a good balance between the various methods of info sharing. We greatly appreciate you giving some time to fill out this survey. We promise this will be the last survey for the academic year!
We have scheduled Peter Inglis, a professional photographer, to come on 25-26 May to take photos of children in school. We have worked with Peter in the past, and he has been fantastic with the children. Peter has a selection of puppets and tricks, along with lots of patience to make the children smile. The children are now developing their confidence and characters; I’m sure there will be many fun sessions throughout the day.
Four classes are scheduled for each day:
Tuesday 25 May - Dolphin, Frog, Tiger, Turtle
Wednesday 26 May - Panda, Monkey, Dragon, Gecko
Due to the pandemic, Peter will only be taking photographs of individual children and siblings. We will ask for a collage format for class photos.
Please note each child will have their face mask off momentarily for their individual photoshoot. Everyone else around will be keeping their face masks on throughout the whole time. Please inform your child’s class teacher in advance if you DO NOT wish for your child to participate in the photoshoot.
