Dear Parents

We truly appreciate that families are taking on much more responsibility for the children’s learning than usual during distance learning. We share the same challenges as many of us adjust to learning/ working from home. Our teachers have finalised distance learning plans this weekend and are ready to take our  Unit of Inquiry online.

Moving forward, your teacher will be sending you the distance learning content on Friday afternoons ahead of the following week. You will be able to access the content via your class blog from the ESF App or you can bookmark the site link on your browsers/ devices for easy access. This is particularly helpful if you have other family members assisting with distance learning.

Last year, we talked about a mental shift from "How will my child learn if they're not in school?" to "How can I ensure my child acquires the skills needed for learning anywhere?" We hope to work in partnership with our parent community in supporting our children's learning.

As disappointed as we are about the situation, unfortunately, it is out of our control. However, we can make the best out of the situation and we can control what we do here at Hillside. We will continue to proceed with our planned schedule for the next few weeks. Please see below for details on the upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Unfortunately, we have had to take the very disappointing decision to cancel the Tabby McTat theatre trip. The production house is considering staging this or a similar production at a future date. At this time they are not able to announce any new dates as yet, but we will keep everyone posted on the situation. If they are not able to postpone the performance for us, then a refund will be issued in due course.

The upcoming K1 & K2 Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTCs) are available for sign-up. Please make an appointment via the app at your earliest convenience to secure a time to meet with your child's teacher. You will receive an automated email with a Zoom link in the afternoon prior to your PTC. Please be reminded to Zoom from a quiet space to avoid poor audio connections.

K1 PTCs - each teacher will be available for two days.

• Monday 7 Feb: Dolphin, Frog 
• Tuesday 8 Feb: Panda, Monkey
• Wednesday 9 Feb: Frog, Monkey
• Thursday 10 Feb: Dolphin, Panda

K2 PTCs - each teacher will be available for two days.

• Monday 14 Feb: Gecko, Turtle
• Tuesday 15 Feb: Dragon, Tiger
• Wednesday 16 Feb: Gecko, Turtle
• Thursday 17 Feb: Dragon, Tiger

Please note classes will continue as per usual throughout the PTC weeks. The appointments are about 10-15 minutes long for each child.
