Dear Parents

As you know, online learning may continue in ESF schools during March and April. I was also pleased to hear that kindergartens would be prioritised to resume face-to-face learning should the situation permits after Easter. However, we do not have clear guidance on what compulsory universal testing might look like for all of us in Hong Kong.

We are facing an exceptional and unprecedented time, to say the least. 

We all have days when we feel low. There might be days when you feel anxious, worried, or exhausted. Please know that you are not alone. We are in this together! 

We must try to stay positive and reframe negative thoughts. As much as we might be disappointed about the situation, unfortunately, it is out of our control. However, we can make the best out of the situation and focus on our priorities to maximise safety, wellbeing, and learning.

With this said, we have started some scenario planning in anticipation of the compulsory universal testing and the possibility of increased cases within our community. However, it is important to remain agile, sensitive and responsive to the needs of our community.

With the evolving COVID situation, we have been talking about different scenarios where a high number of staff might be unable to attend Zoom class due to illnesses or compulsory testing requirements.

We also anticipate some internet issues with the high influx of people working from home in the city. This has continued to be an issue for both teachers and parents for the past two days.

Please understand that we will do our best to secure continuity of learning, but this could sometimes mean a change of activity, a change of teachers, a change of times, or a shift to asynchronous learning for the day.

We continue to hope for the best, but at the same time, it is important to prepare for what might lie ahead. Of course, there will be challenges and frustration, but we are all learning to be resilient. 

We ask for your patience and support as we push through these trying times. 

From the EDB letter issued yesterday, clear guidance has been provided on school site access during March and April to facilitate compulsory universal testing. 

As a result, all ESF schools shall ensure that there are no staff on campus from 7 March 2022. This includes admin staff; therefore, we will have to move all communications online. Please get in touch with us via kinder@hillside.edu.hk for enquiries.

Bus Service - We have been informed by KCM that there is a fee reduction for February and March 2022. You should have received an email from KCM yesterday, if not, please contact esfhs@kcm.com.hk for details.
