Dear Parents
It is lovely to have the school buzzing again! Both the K1 and K2 children settled quickly back into routines. So many of the children shared, “I’m so happy to see my friends and be back at school!”
I hope we can continue until the end of the term without further disruptions as Hong Kong sets to ease the anti-pandemic measures further. I want to express my sincere thanks again to the Hillside team for coming together so quickly last week, enabling us to fully resume all classes.
We are moving in the right direction towards a much-needed period of ‘routine’ and normalcy.
Warm regards
Audrey
ESF understands the continuing difficulties faced by parents and caregivers in Hong Kong due to Covid-19. As part of our commitment to support families during this challenging time, we are offering a grant of $1,600 for each student which will be credited into the student fee account in June 2022 and included in the June 2022 statement.
Parents who pay for their child’s tuition fees for June 2022 and opt-in via the ESF Parent App from 5-16 May 2022 are eligible for this grant. If you have multiple children at ESF, you should complete the form for each child in each school.
Please note, that if you do not opt-in by Monday, 16 May 2022, then we will have to treat this as an opt-out.
In addition, if your financial circumstances have seen significant change, ESF has a Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) to provide financial support.
For more information, please visit our FAS website.
Over the past few months, one of the significant maintenance projects was the revamp of our playground. Unfortunately, there was a bit of delay due to the pandemic, but we are happy to report that our playground is now bigger than it was, and it extends to connect with the Bradbury back playground. There is also a connection to the Bradbury under cover area, allowing us more outdoor shelter on rainy days.
This will create opportunities for Hillside and Bradbury to share learning space and experiences moving forward. Our K2 children have resumed weekly PE sessions with the Bradbury PE teachers Ally and Sam as part of this partnership. This has been taking place mainly in the Hillside lower playground area.
ESF head office has reviewed the 2022/2023 calendar (attached). The plan is to be flexible with this calendar. For example, if Hong Kong unexpectedly hits a COVID wave before any holidays, we may adjust accordingly.
The calendar will need to go through Hong Kong government gazetting for 2023, typically completed in May. At this point, we do not anticipate any issues.
