Dear Parents
Firstly, no cases reported today :) and we have finally completed all our K2 Celebrations of Learning! Thank you again for coming out to support the children's special ceremony.
I want to say, again, thank you to all our parents for being supportive members of the Hillside community. During these unprecedented times, you and your family have stepped in to help us support your child's learning in many ways. We know it wasn't easy, it wasn't ideal, but it has not gone unnoticed.Parents and teachers have always been a team, but we demonstrated what a strong home-school partnership is. So thank you.
We can never thank the staff enough for their dedication and professionalism. The Hillside staff persevere during these unprecedented times – always remaining focused on our central goal to provide the best for the children. The pandemic has truly been testing and pushed many of us out of our comfort zones, which is a further testament to the staff's superb agility and generous spirit!
Finally, thank you to our children for being absolute superstars every day! They continue to surprise us, and we are so proud of all they have accomplished during their time at Hillside.
Stay well and stay healthy! I wish all of you the best, and have a great summer. We will see you in August for those returning!
Kind regards
Audrey
On behalf of everyone at Hillside, we wish our leaving colleagues all the best and a happy farewell. We are saying goodbye to:
All of them will be leaving Hillside to embark on new adventures, whether relocating or pursuing new opportunities.
We are truly grateful to have them as part of our community, and we will sorely miss all these wonderful people. I'm sure you will all join us in wishing them the best in the next chapter of their lives.
Your child's end-of-year report is now live online. Again, due to the unusual aspect of this academic year, it is important to note that learning is not locked in one point, one year or a particular age but is an ongoing continuum based on the child's readiness rather than a date. All teachers between different year levels are very sensitive to the situation and will be meeting the children where they are, both academically and social-emotionally, supporting the children in their next phase of learning. We also invite those parents interested in contributing to the report by adding your comment in the "parent response to learning" box.
You can access your child's portfolio pieces, where you should find highlights of your child's work and showcase your child's role in their learning. This could also reflect your child's conceptual understandings, knowledge or skills, and ideas for continuing the learning or next steps. You may also access the e-portfolio from a desktop to download all your children's work.
Thank you again for your ongoing support and for working in partnership with us.
The Educational Psychology and JCSRS Therapist Teams co-delivered a parent webinar last week on "Creative Ways to Support Your Child's Development Throughout the Summer Holidays".
We have shared a toolkit with our parent audience, which covers a range of outdoor playground recommendations, educational movies, board games, mindful walking, creative tasks, goal setting, monitoring, prioritization, etc.
On a similar note, ESF Connections will be coming back for some summer fun (27 June - 19 August). The registration website containing all the resources and links will be sent directly to parents via the ESF app.
We've had some enquries about summer camps and activities. If you are in town this summer, ESF Sports and Language offers summer camps in sports, language, Arts and Drama, etc. For more information, please visit [Web Link]
