Dear Parents
To families who celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, we hope you had an enjoyable gathering with your loved ones. To all our families, we hope you enjoyed a pleasant long weekend.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated in Chinese culture. The children have been learning about different aspects of this festival during their Chinese sessions in the past week. Our Chinese teacher shared cultural stores, and many children made mooncakes and lanterns as part of the festivities.
As the children settle into our routines, we hope to introduce more community events to include our parent community - look out for this space!
Warm regards
Audrey
It has come to our attention that there are a number of WhatsApp groups in our community. We appreciate the class WhatsApp groups are helpful for sharing information about events, support info and class socials. Within interactions, assume positive intent and maintain a positive tone. Stay solution-focused. We want to remind our community of a few safeguarding guidelines as outlined in our Parent Handbook. Please get in touch with the school or your class teacher directly for the most accurate information.
Please keep the following guidelines in mind:
Confidentiality is key
Treat others with respect - i.e. Respect the beliefs, cultures and opinions of others even if you disagree
Use non-judgmental, respectful language
Photographs and Filming – Due to confidentiality and privacy, staff are responsible for protecting the privacy of children, families, and their work colleagues. In the spirit of building community, individual or group photos of the children in class might be shared at times. However, these photographs should be for private or personal use and not shared or forward onto a public forum.
We take safeguarding responsibilities seriously and will deal with any reported incidents appropriately.
Thank you to parents that joined us for the webinar earlier today to further understand learning in the early years. We hope it was a helpful introduction to the Primary Years Programme (PYP). We value your thoughts and feedback and would greatly appreciate you giving us some time to fill out this survey. Your input will help us to plan future parent sessions. Many thanks! Here are the session recording and slides.
Last year, members of our community expressed an interest in having a 'baseball cap' style sun hat for outdoor play, and we have managed to ask our supplier to make this available. We still have a limited number available, so it’s first-come-first-served for now. Please contact kinder@hillside.edu.hk to order.
