Dear Hillside Families
As this is the last full newsletter, I would like to start by saying thank you to all our parents for being supportive members of the Hillside community. As I've shared during the K2 ceremony last week, it has not been an easy year for all of us (children and adults) as we manoeuvre the new post-Covid landscape.
We know it wasn't easy, and it has not gone unnoticed.
Our CEO, Belinda Greer, came for a school visit last Friday. It was great to have her speak with some of our stakeholders firsthand and hear the incredible work our staff and children are doing.
Those who met with Belinda shared that we have an incredibly supportive community here at Hillside. I was particularly proud to hear parents share their appreciation for the early years experience their children are receiving at Hillside. We are a very passionate group of early years educators, and your praise only reaffirms our efforts. We are truly honoured to have such a supportive parent community.
Parents and teachers have always been a team, but we demonstrated what a strong home-school partnership is. So thank you.
We can never thank the staff enough for their dedication and professionalism. The Hillside staff persevere through new challenges – always focused on our central goal of providing the best for the children.
Finally, thank you to our children for being absolute superstars every day! They continue to surprise us, and we are so proud of all they have accomplished during their time at Hillside.
I wish all of you the best and have a great summer. We will see you in August for those returning!
Warm regards
Audrey
The first official onsite day will be Monday, 21 August. All K2 children will return to school on this day. The Hong Kong government has now gazetted the public holidays. Please refer to the 2023/24 calendar for school dates. You will soon receive your child's starting timetable.
On behalf of everyone at Hillside, we wish our leaving colleagues all the best and a happy farewell. We are saying goodbye to:
All of them will be leaving Hillside to embark on new adventures, whether relocating or pursuing new opportunities.
We are truly grateful to have them as part of our community, and we will sorely miss all these wonderful people. I'm sure you will all join us in wishing them the best in the next chapter of their lives.
Last call for donations of preloved uniform items! We will be selling items at a nominal price, with all proceeds going towards enhancing our music programme for the children. The Pop-Up shop at Hillside opens this Friday, 23 June. Please see more details on the attached flyer.
As the school year is coming to an end, and with the weather getting hotter each day, we have planned a Water Fun Day for the children to have some summer fun together. We are very excited to bring back this popular pre-covid event with various water activities in our outdoor area where the children can have a dip n’ splash. There will also be some indoor activities for those who prefer to stay dry.
Please have your child wear their swimmers, don’t forget waterproof sunscreen in advance, and wear trainers on this day. Please also pack a towel, a change of clothes and shoes on this exciting day. All must be clearly labelled and packed in a waterproof bag. Get ready for a day filled with fun and frolic!
The last day of school, 29 June, will be a dress-down day for the children's end-of-year party. A friendly reminder about our policy on goody bags:
"For health and safety reasons, we kindly request that no treats or goody bags be sent to school. This is to prevent children opening gifts that they could accidentally swallow and choke on (small toy parts, bubble solution, food, etc.) or accidentally hurt another child on the bus or themselves. We would also appreciate your understanding and support in our ongoing efforts on sustainability and well-being in order to avoid unnecessary/unhealthy consumption and waste."
We look forward to wrapping up the school year with a lot of fun and games!
