Dear Hillside Families

We are delighted to have parents back on campus as part of our programme. It was lovely to see new K1 parents joining in as storytellers and having K2 parents return for our open-play time.

Thank you to all the parent participants for supporting our programme and enhancing the children's learning experience. On this note, we will soon be kicking off our Class Parent initiative. Laura and I will soon meet with the designated class parents to discuss this new initiative.

We are also planning our annual Hillside Winter Family Picnic on Friday, 8 December. This community event is intended for families to come together and spread some holiday cheer. Please save this date - more details will follow soon!

Stay tuned for more information, including the picnic schedule and specific details about activities and surprises that await you. An official invitation with all the necessary information will be sent to you soon.

All ESF Kindergartens will be closed on Thursday, 14 December 2023, to conduct their K1 play visits and admissions process. Please note that this will be a non-school day for current kindergarten children. Having this day to conduct the majority of play visits will limit ongoing disruptions to regular school sessions. We thank you for your understanding and support on this matter. 

December is always a busy month, so we want to keep you informed of our upcoming plans.

We want to draw your attention to the last week of school before the winter break. Due to the government school holiday and the annual ESF K1 Admissions Day, this week is expected to be a bit choppy in terms of the regular schedule. 

We anticipate this week will be filled with festive fun leading up to the winter break. We kindly request your understanding and cooperation during this time. 

We would like to remind you of the following upcoming events in December:

• 13 December: Festive Dress Up - Last School Day of Term

Early Intervention & Student Support

We want all children to feel safe, supported, and valued in their learning environment. At times, children may face barriers to learning due to a variety of reasons, from anxiety, social confidence, speech delays, sensory processing or other challenges.

In this session, our Vice Principal and Student Support Coordinator, Laura Bousefield, will talk about the importance of early intervention. Our external service providers will join her to share the resources and support accessible at Hillside.
