Dear Hillside Families
We plan to go ahead with Sports Fun Day as planned. The weather forecast is still cloudy with a few rain patches, but the forecast has been like this all week, and we've seen some occasional sunshine! Keeping our fingers crossed and containing our sundance.
If the weather takes a bad turn with heavy persistent rain in the morning, then we will inform all families via the App messaging system. If the event is cancelled, it will be a normal school day, and school buses will run as usual.
Please be reminded we will meet all families directly at the Indian Recreation Club. Please make your own way to the venue. We look forward to a community day together with some fun activities and games. The children have been practising many of the games and will be well-versed on the event day. Here's the access map.
See you all at Sports Fun Day tomorrow!
Warm regards
Audrey
Thank you to the Bradbury Lion Dance Team! Our children had a wonderful time watching the performance today. It was truly an amazing experience for the children to have a close encounter with this festive tradition in a child-friendly environment.
Thank you to the families who submitted artwork to the ESF Year of the Dragon for a Lunar New Year e-card challenge. While the Hillside artwork did not get selected as the official ESF Year of the Dragon Card, we made our own selection, and we want to feature the artwork by Irene Sun from the Dragon class. We particularly liked her use of vibrant colours and multi-media techniques.
We wish everyone a healthy and happy Year of the Dragon ahead!
Here's the ESF Year of the Dragon e-card. This beautiful painting of the mythical creature was created by eight-year-old Ines Lai, who is a student at our ESF Clearwater Bay School. Ines' art was selected by Chief Executive Officer Belinda Greer as part of our annual ESF-wide art challenge. While judging the competition, Belinda said, "Dragons have really sparked our children's imaginations, and the entries this year have been exceptionally bright and bold." Well done to all our students who have captured the joy of the upcoming festival through their colourful and captivating designs. We hope you will enjoy sharing our ESF card with your community. You can download it here.
Your child's Sharing the Planet Unit of Inquiry report is now available for viewing. Please refer to the graphics below to access your child's report. When viewing the report, we invite those parents interested in contributing by adding your comment in the "parent response to learning" box.
Thank our wonderful Hillside community once again for supporting our Christmas Appeal - Rebooked. It has been a Hillside tradition to foster the spirit of giving every Christmas. Not only does this tradition create a connection with our learning community, but it also transfers our learning into an "action." We saved many pre-loved books from going to waste, and more young readers will surely enjoy them. THANK YOU!
