Dear Hillside Families
March is already upon us, and time seems to be flying by at lightning speed! The classrooms are buzzing with energy, and with numerous exciting events and activities happening, it's no wonder the days are passing so quickly. March also brings unpredictable weather, rain showers, and yo-yo temperatures, so it's very important to remain vigilant against illnesses. Please continue to reinforce good hygiene practices with the children, such as hand washing and mask handling. By instilling these habits, we aim to minimise the risk of any potential outbreaks.
Several events are taking place, including Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTCs), various parent participation opportunities, and engaging incursions and excursions for the children. Please take note of the upcoming events, and remember to sign up for your timeslot! As always, we appreciate your dedication and involvement in your child's education. Your active participation and support make a tremendous difference in their learning experience.
Warm regards
Audrey
To support professional learning around diversity and inclusion, ESF has arranged a CPD day led by world-renowned educator, Dr Shelley Moore. Shelley is an inclusive education expert, and she will be guiding us on needs-based classroom planning and strategies for designing inclusive lessons.
Here's a powerful little video where Shelley uses bowling as an analogy to talk about “Transforming Inclusive Education.”
As the K2 children continue their inquiries within the unit Sharing the Planet, we have planned a trip to Tai Tam Country Park to encourage them to build on their knowledge of the local environment, as well as to think more deeply around how their choices may have a ripple effect on nature. Please look out for a separate app message that will contain further details and an e-Notice for this trip.
Please complete the trip eNotice to provide permission for your child to attend. You can access the Gateway eNotice via the ESF App, and see a "new eNotice to fill in now."
We have scheduled Peter Inglis, a professional photographer, to come on 12-13 March to take photos of children in school. We have worked with Peter in the past, and he has been fantastic with the children. Peter has a selection of puppets and tricks and lots of patience to make the children smile. The children are now developing their confidence and personalities; I’m sure we will hear lots of giggles throughout the day.
Peter will be taking photographs of individual children, siblings and class groups. Please note that some children might feel uncomfortable in this situation, so we will not force them to be photographed against their wishes.
Four classes are scheduled for each day:
Tuesday 12 March - All K1s
Wednesday 13 March - All K2s
When available, you will be able to view the proofs online. More details will follow. There is no obligation to purchase.
