Dear Hillside Families,
It's the last week of term! On behalf of the Hillside team, thank you so much for your unwavering support and dedication to your child's learning journey. Your involvement and encouragement have truly made a difference, and we couldn't have done it without you!
The children had an amazing time during our Water Fun Day and thoroughly enjoyed today's class party. Witnessing their joy, laughter, and smiling faces was truly heartwarming.
We are incredibly proud of all the children's hard work and achievements this year. Watching them grow and learn has been a pleasure; we know they will continue to shine bright. A big thank you to our children for being absolute superstars!
Our Hillside community is incredibly supportive, and I was touched to hear parents express their gratitude for the early years experience their children are receiving at Hillside. Your kind words serve as a testament to the dedication of our passionate group of early years educators.
The partnership between parents and teachers is vital, and together, we have demonstrated what a strong home-school connection can achieve. Your ongoing support means the world to us.
I want to express my appreciation to the entire Hillside staff for their unwavering dedication and professionalism. I want to give a special shout-out to our unsung heroes - our superstar cleaners and admin staff. They quietly work behind the scenes and support all of us every day; we are incredibly grateful for all they do for us.
Once again, thank you for your partnership and trust in us. Wishing you all a fantastic summer filled with joy, relaxation, and memorable moments with your loved ones.
Warm regards
Audrey
Your child's end-of-year reports are now available for viewing via the ESF app (K1 Who We Are & How We Express Ourselves; K2 How We Express Ourselves). It is important to note that learning is not locked in one point, one year or a particular age but is an ongoing continuum based on the child's readiness and progress rather than a date. All teachers between different year levels strongly believe in meeting the children where they are, both academically and social-emotionally, supporting the children in their next phase of learning. We also invite those parents interested in contributing to the report by adding your comment in the "parent response to learning" box. At the bottom of each report, you can click on the "Download as PDF" button to keep a copy; this function will be available until the end of July. Please contact the office at kinder@hillside.edu.hk if you have any difficulties.
As mentioned in the recent parent newsletters, we are keeping the K1 children together and moving them up as a class to K2. Here is the K1 to K2 class transition plan:
- Dolphin > Turtle (Teacher: Jen Fausset)
- Frog > Tiger (Teacher: Amy Lau)
- Monkey > Dragon (Teacher: Juliet Kenyon)
- Panda > Gecko (Teacher: Ammie Pierpoint)
During this last week of school, we have arranged a few opportunities for the children to connect with their new teachers and spend time in their new classrooms.
We will host parent-teacher meetings, or "Getting to Know You" sessions for the new academic year, on 14-15 August. These sessions are an opportunity for you to meet with your child's teacher, share information, or ask questions about the year ahead. Sign-ups are in separate App messages.
All K2 families are cordially invited to a "K2 Family Meet and Greet" on Friday, 16 August, to meet their teachers and visit their classrooms. There will be 45-minute timeslots: 8:45, 10:00, 1:15, and 2:30. Sign-ups are in separate App messages.
The first official K2 school day is Monday, 19 August. Remember to wear your "I am a dragon/ gecko/ tiger/ turtle" stickers!
We are finalising the K2 Induction site and will share it with you shortly. Please refer to the site for teacher info, general schedule, and access stories/ videos to prepare for the start of school. Here's this school calendar for school term dates.
After the summer break, the ESF Admissions Team will share information on the 2025-26 Y1 transition process. Most primary schools will offer open days in August/ September. Once we have information for the new academic year, we will share it with parents in due course.
As we approach the end of the academic year, we would like to inform you about an essential process in the ESF App. As part of our annual rollover process, we will log all users out of the app to ensure data security and maintain accurate records.

What To Expect:
Your child's end-of-year report will soon be available. We will send another reminder once it's live online. It is important to note that learning is not locked in one point, one year or a particular age but is an ongoing continuum based on the child's readiness and progress rather than a date. All teachers between different year levels strongly believe in meeting the children where they are, academically and socially-emotionally, supporting them in their next learning phase. We also invite those parents interested in contributing to the report by adding your comment in the "parent response to learning" box.
This is also a warm reminder to download your child's photos from the class albums before they are archived over the summer. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. We appreciate your understanding as we work to maintain a secure and efficient communication platform for our school communities. Please contact the office at kinder@hillside.edu.hk if you have any difficulties.
