Principal's Message

Dear Hillside Families

Happy New Year 2025! We hope you all had a joyful and restful holiday season. It is lovely to welcome back everyone, and we are ready to start another term of exciting and engaging learning here at Hillside.

As we look back at the end of last term, we are proud to share that our kindergarten hosted over 200 families to our 'play-visit'/ K1 Admissions event. It was wonderful to see so many happy faces exploring our environment! Thanks to your support, our recent bake sale raised an impressive $7,005, which will help fund our upcoming incursion/ excursion learning experiences (e.g. paying for the sports day venue coming up in February - we are waiting for the venue confirmation and will share details in due course.) Your contributions make all the difference!

Thank you for being part of the Hillside community. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead, filled with growth, learning, and fun experiences for our children.

School Photos (21, 22 January)

We have scheduled Peter Inglis, a professional photographer, to come on 21, 22 January to take photos of children in school. We have worked with Peter in the past, and he has been fantastic with the children. Peter has a selection of puppets and tricks and lots of patience to make the children smile. The children are now developing their confidence and personalities; I’m sure we will hear lots of giggles throughout the day. 

Peter will be taking photographs of individual children, siblings and class groups. Please note that some children might feel uncomfortable in this situation, so we will not force them to be photographed against their wishes. 

Four classes are scheduled for each day:
Tuesday 21 January - All K1s
Wednesday 22 January - All K2s

When available, you will be able to view the proofs online. More details will follow. There is no obligation to purchase.   

REMINDER: Lunar New Year Parent Volunteer Call-out

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, we are now seeking parent volunteers to support Open Play learning engagements. You will be helping children with following instructions and supporting their play in art, music & movement; there will also be a staff member with you to facilitate the learning. We kindly request that parents who sign up to volunteer adhere to their assigned station during Open Play. This will ensure consistent supervision and facilitation of learning opportunities for all children. While we understand the desire to spend time with your child, there will be other opportunities throughout next term to engage individually with your child.

ReUniform

We are taking steps to be more sustainable as a school. As such, we would like to provide a forum for interested parents to donate and purchase preloved uniform items at a nominal price. All proceeds will go to enhancing our incursion/excursion provision for the children.

If you are interested in donating, please send the preloved uniform items to school any time from now onwards. If you’re interested in purchasing, please visit our pop-up store at Hillside next week and bring CASH!.
